Hollywood, 1954. A racy Black female comic, Doris Jean, tries to break into Hollywood without playing the tropes of a maid, and ends up creating a hilarious sketch show with a White actress, Eva Rose. Once stardom happens Doris Jean finds out how far a Black actress has to go to make it in Hollywood during Jim Crow.
